For Beginners in Bonsai

Bonsai Tools

If a beginner, try growing native trees, this is much easier than trying to grow trees which are not native to your country, for one thing your climatic conditions are right.

Look in your garden, local hedgerows/woods etc for saplings.

Where ever you find saplings, make a note of the type of soil which they are growing in. This can be helpful when mixing a soil for your container/pot.

Visit your local Bonsai Nursery where native trees are usually less expensive than imported trees.

If possible join a Bonsai Club in your area, advice from fellow bonsai growers is plentiful.
‘Workshop’ evenings are very popular as you get the chance to get ‘hands-on’ experience.

Go to your local library, read books on bonsai before purchasing any yourself as these can be expensive.

Browse the Internet for Bonsai sites, much can be learnt from bonsai enthousiasts and their discussions.
