Charles Edward - winner of photo competition

1st prize - photo competition
A most enjoyable day at this annual event.
We began with a welcome cup of coffee and biscuits. Our first speaker was Ric Reilly from Cornwall, a fascinating talk of how he grows Species and unusual cultivars in the ground in his large polytunnel, a more natural way of growing than just growing in a pot, and also some wonderful specimens in his garden
It was then time for lunch prepared by Lyndy Stritch, thank you Lyndy that was delicious.
J.J. Lennel's talk about the statistics of species, cultivars, their DNA, hybridizers, etc I found fascinating and then to see the collections of cultivars in 3D slides was amazing to say the least.
Another break for tea and biscuits and the grand raffle, followed by Ray Reed's talk about the late, famous local hybridizer Mr. Ted Stiff, thank you Ray, I can now also grow 'Our Ted' after receiving one of your own rooted cuttings two years ago.
The photos on display, taken over the years by Mr. Brian Morrison were greatly admired by all.
There was also a photo competition of a fuchsia bloom/blooms, photos judged by Ric. I don't normally enter photo competitions, and to my amazement I won. Thank you Nicki for a wonderful prize and I'm sure everyone would like to join me in thanking you for organizing such a lovely day, now we are looking forward to the Annual Show in July.
